Best Child Phone Monitoring App
Screen Time, as the name suggests, controls the time spent by your kids on their tablets and smartphones. This parental control software gives you a 14 day free trial which allows you to explore all the features of this excellent monitoring system.
Like ESET, Norton is at heart an antivirus maker. Norton Family Premier comes free if you spring for Norton's most expensive antivirus suite, Norton Security Premium. That product nominally costs $90 per year, but it's often discounted for as little as $60. At that price, getting Norton Family Premier and Norton's excellent antivirus protection for $10 more is kind of a no-brainer.
As a parent, it is quite obvious to get worried regarding the whereabouts of your kids. Though, FamiSafe can certainly be of a great relief to you. You can remotely know where your kids are through your mobile or any other device. In this way, you can check if they are attending their classes, are at a mall, at a friend’s house, etc.
Oddly enough, some companies charge different rates for the Android and iOS versions of their apps, so it’s a good idea to check that your subscription covers your operating system of choice. Naturally, companies that only cover one device per subscription aren’t as good of a value as those that let you monitor multiple devices.
Beyond monitoring how your child communicates with others, Qustodio lets you monitor other smartphone activity such as contacts, videos, photos, images, installed apps, GPS location, and browser history. We also liked Qustodio's easy-to-understand user interface, which gives you access to detailed reports and settings through the parent app or a web browser. The app runs invisibly on your child’s cell phone, and it gives you the power to remotely lock the device.
Lock2Learn stands out from the other products here, as it's not strictly a monitoring product. But it does give you some control over your child's mobile devices by letting you restrict app access and screen time. There's also a promising educational twist: Lock2Learn will lock a device at intervals you select, and the only way your child can regain access is by answering a series of questions about English or math.
Google also has an app called Digital Wellbeing, which allows you to self-restrict app access on devices running Android 9. This app is geared towards adults tracking and managing their own screen time, but we like the potential of using this app to help older children and teens learn about healthy smartphone habits. Digital Wellbeing is currently only available on Google Pixel smartphones, but will eventually roll out to other Android devices. We’ll update our article as Google adds support for additional smartphones.
Also, you can know the past location records of your kids as well. Just go to FamiSafe’s dashboard and check their location history to know the routes they have taken or the places they have visited in the past.
Device Compatibility Though these apps support most common smartphones and carriers, not all are compatible. It's important that you double-check the brand and model of the phone you want to monitor so you don't waste money on incompatible software. Most developers have extensive lists of compatible devices on their websites.
